The highly anticipated global blockbuster TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition has opened at Melbourne Museum.

In an exclusive showcase that’s bound to make waves in Melbourne, TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition has dropped anchor at the Melbourne Museum, proudly supported by the Allan Labor Government. This Australian exclusive promises to draw in a sea of visitors, running until 14 April 2024.

Featuring over 200 artefacts salvaged from the ocean floor and meticulously recreated ship interiors, including the Grand Staircase, First Class Parlour Suite, and Verandah Café, this exhibition is a riveting experience for those fascinated by the infamous Titanic saga.

Having already captivated over 30 million people worldwide, the exhibition sails into Melbourne after a sold-out stint in Paris, where it left an indelible mark on the city. Melbourne had its taste of Titanic fever back in 2010, attracting a staggering 465,000 attendees.

Over a century since the tragedy, the allure of the Titanic endures. Audiences remain captivated by the personal stories of loss that continue to educate and mesmerise. Australians like stewardess Evelyn Marsden and engineer Arthur McRae, whose legacies live on, are integral parts of this compelling narrative.

Artefacts recovered from four kilometres below the North Atlantic Sea, including an unopened bottle of champagne from 1900, luggage, china, jewellery, and a Verandah Café window frame, bear witness to the ship’s poignant history. All recovered by RMS Titanic, Inc., the sole company authorised to salvage items from the site.

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are handed a boarding pass, inviting them to step into the world of the Titanic. Here, they’ll encounter a touchable iceberg mimicking the fateful night’s water temperature, explore artefacts, and hear personal stories of the passengers and crew.

More than a century later, the tale of the Titanic’s maiden voyage continues to enchant, educate, and tug at the heartstrings. Board the exhibition to explore over 200 real artefacts, dive into the captivating human stories of the voyage, and traverse full-scale replicas of iconic Titanic spaces. Experience the grandeur of the ship’s interiors, including the legendary Grand Staircase, and gain insights into its innovative engineering. Touch an iceberg with the same chilling temperature as the North Atlantic waters that tragic night.

An Australian-exclusive Titanic artefacts exhibition is coming to Melbourne

If that wasn’t enough, you can also experience a taste of Titanic through a unique high tea menu inspired by the rich history of the world’s most legendary ship. Enjoy a tiered selection of freshly made sweet and savoury delights before embarking on the journey through time.

After making waves in Paris and the USA, Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition has docked in Melbourne this summer, promising an unmissable experience for history enthusiasts and culture aficionados alike.
