Hailed as one of Victoria’s best boutique festivals over the last couple of years, Loch Hart Music Festival is getting bigger by the day, with the festival announcing a slew of fresh names to their lineup this week.
Situated a stone’s throw from The Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge along Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road, the grassroots BYO event has just added electro-supergroup Confidence Man (DJ Set), cinematic funk quartet Karate Boogaloo, nine-piece bandAusecuma Beats, Geelong-based psych-pop songwriter Maxwell Brady, the experimental and wildly unconventional Haiku Hands, brotherly duo Donald’s House, spicy five-piece Sandy Dish, jagged psych-rockers murmurmur, Mildlife and local legend Flynn Gurry to their already epic lineup of Australian acts.
The festival has also confirmed the return of the beloved comedy hour, hosting the likes of Mark Samual Bonanno of comedy troupe Aunty Donna, Michelle Brasier, Fergus Neal, Sashi Perera and Tess Birch, who sold out a run of seven headline shows at the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

For the first time, the festival is also hosting a guest speaker, Peter Evans, for the 2022 event. Peter is the author of ‘Sunbury – Australia’s Greatest Rock Festival’ after his time designing and operating the stage lighting for the first three festivals. Sunbury Rock Festival ran from 1972-1975 hosting over 40,000 fans. It is often referred to as ‘Australia’s Woodstock’ that heralded a revolution in Australian music and culture, hosting performances from Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs, Daddy Cool, Deep Purple, Sherbet, Skyhooks and Queen. However, it’s the tales that happened beyond the stage that gave Sunbury its lasting legacy, including a fight between Deep Purple and AC/DC roadies and a young and entrepreneurial Michael Gudinski selling watermelons to the sweltering crowds. Expect to hear all these colourful yarns and more.
These acts join already announced artists Bad//Dreems, The Spaghetti Stains, KYE, Sunnyside, Dorsal Fins; Telenova; Surf Coast alt-pop artist Libby Steel; and Ballarat’s Meraki Minds, as well as Darwin’s infectious indie-rocker Stevie Jean, Melbourne psych-rock four-piece Washed Up Wizards and the well-loved PBS FM brekky host and beat scientist, DJ Milo Eastwood.
Having recently rescheduled the November festival to January 14-16 next year, the beloved local festival will transform the small scenic town of Princetown over one weekend on one stage in a natural amphitheatre at Kangaroobie Camp.
Having previously seen performances from the likes of Didirri, Alice Ivy, Alpine, Waax, Last Dinosaurs and Genesis Owusu over the years to the delight of hundreds of happy punters, the 2022 edition is looking to be their best one yet.
With three days of body-moving music, in addition to locally-sourced craft beers and culinary delights, comedy, yoga, arts and crafts and more in the laid-back surrounds of Loch Hart Music Festival 2022 – after now two years without such pleasures – you’d be mad to miss it.
