1 / 7

Multi-award winning fiesta of sass, swagger and sultry dexterity, Circus Trick Tease will shake, thrust and shimmy their way into the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2022 with a string of shows at Forum Downstairs.

If you’re feeling a little fatigued or still to fully shake off your lockdown slumber, look no further than Circus Trick Tease’s Werk It, a rather spectacular combination of comedy, dance and high-energy work outs that’s won rave reviews at the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

Circus Trick Tease is the hive-mind of a tradie, spin instructor and crossfit fiend, a collaboration of five performers that will take over The Forum Downstairs from April 14 to 24. Think Aerobics Oz Style, but equal parts skill, thrill and comedy.

The quintuplet comprise hula hoop royalty Lisa Lottie, Richard Sullivan, strong woman Cassia Jamieson, circus artist Vincent van Berkel, and comedian Malia Walsh. Their mixture of sass, swagger and sultry dexterity been playing sold out seasons for quite some time on the festival circuit, so it’s no surprise to see them nab a prized Comedy Festival venue for what should be a huge show.

“It’s the low carb love-child of a tradie, a spin instructor and a cross-fit fiend,” the fivesome explain. Werk It is a riot of color and movement – big tricks delivered by an all-star cast with more sass and swagger than a TLC videoclip.”

A homegrown success story, Circus Trick Tease have been touring internationally for an impressive 15 years, after launching in 2008 with their award winning self-titled show at the Melbourne Fringe.

In that time, they’ve delighted audiences with the smash hit Can’t Face in 2018. They have nine awards under their belt, three sell out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and a ton of stars.
