Blink Theatre Company’s short dance film Memory House premieres this month at Village Cinemas Geelong

Blink Dance Theatre and Geelong Arts Centre have teamed up to produce a short dance film unlike anything Geelong has seen before.

Blink Dance Theatre and Geelong Arts Centre have teamed up on their latest creative endeavour producing a short dance film titled Memory House.

The film was created with Glass Kingdom Films and explores the physicality of memory, the body as home and the Jungian archetype of the house as a metaphor for self.

The eight-minute film is to be premiered on March 18 at Village Cinemas Geelong, beginning at 7 pm for a 7.30 start.

Blink Dance Company received the inaugural Creative Engine Grant for the production of the film nearly two years ago, but due to the pandemic the work was briefly put on hold. Memory House was originally planned to be a live performance piece, but due to COVID the company produced a short film instead, which was a lengthier project to complete.

The short film is to be followed by a 10-minute documentary created by Hello Friend Media. The short documentary that follows the film will explore and profile how the short film was made as well as a live Q&A artist forum.

For those wanting to catch the screening of Memory House tickets are $20 and are available right now through Eventbrite
