Barwon Health Foundation’s annual Giving Weekend returns with local businesses making it even easier to give back

This year, you can help improve the health of our region just by buying a coffee or doing your regular weekend grocery shop.

It’s time to dig deep Geelong.

Following the launch of Barwon Health Foundation’s Giving Month, the Barwon Health Foundation – which exists to create and nurture philanthropic partnerships between the community and Barwon Health – is bringing back its annual Giving Weekend, giving locals a chance to give back to their local health service.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here

Running from Friday, June 24 through to Sunday, June 26, Giving Weekend will see numerous fundraising activities happening across the regional city, including the traditional tin shake at popular intersections, a pop-up at Market Square Shopping Centre and fundraising at the  North Shore v Lara GFL match.

Making it even easier for locals to get involved, a bunch of small businesses have jumped on board this year and will be donating a portion of their sales from across the weekend. Café Go, The Fresh Food Merchant, Natural Supply Co and Community Care Chemist are all participating, which is making it even easier for residents to get involved.

Simply buying a coffee or indulging in a hot choccy at Cafe Go; doing your regular Sunday morning grocery shop at The Fresh Food Merchant; or simply buying a gift for that special someone from Natural Supply Co will all see you doing your part for the fundraising efforts.

Volunteers will also be manning barbeques at Bunnings stores at Waurn Ponds, North Geelong and  Torquay so if you needed (another) excuse to get your weekend snag this is it.

The goal is to raise $300,000 for Barwon Health this June.

Funds raised across Barwon Health Foundation’s Giving Weekend will support Project North, a $2.5  million appeal to close the region’s health gap.
