ChillOut is back for 2021
You can’t keep a good festival down, and so we are happy to reveal that ChillOut Festival has announced its dates for 2021.
From February 27 until March 8, Australia’s longest-running and largest regional pride festival will take place in regional Victoria’s LGBTI mecca Daylesford for its 24th year, inviting visitors to dance, prance, chill and shake a tail feather throughout ten days of fabulous festivity.
With a long history of being out and proud, this year’s event continues to present a program as diverse as the queer community and its extended family of friends and supporters themselves, with tens days of fantastic events.
Guided by the theme ‘Where the Magic Happens – What’s Your magic?’, the festival will host a colourful program featuring wellbeing activities, a special Queer Health Expo, family-friendly theatre, arts events and more – including a performance from Australia’s multi-award-winning magician and mentalist, Cath Jamison, and a Drag King Show like no other with Randy Roy.
The well-loved parade will be going ahead in Daylesford’s Vincent Street, and this year will see the live debut of award-winning podcast and live storytelling project Queerstories, hosted by Maeve Marsden while Festival Ambassador ABC journalist Patricia Karvelas will also host a special in-conversation event which is set to be a real highlight.
As part of the celebrations, festival-goers are invited to gather around Lake Daylesford on March 3rd to take part in the planting of 30 trees. With the aim of creating a ‘Grove of Gratitude’, the symbolic initiative is to honour past and present LGBTQI+ community members as well as a special ceremony.
