Entering its ninth year in Geelong, the Great Australian Beer Festival (previously held out at the Geelong Racecourse) usually attracts a crowd of around 5000 for an afternoon of craft beer tasting and education, brewing demos, top local food and live music, with breweries attending from around the country, including a swathe from the Geelong, Bellarine, Surf Coast and Otway regions alone.
Having just partnered with BeerFest Australia – a group that’s already held six COVID Safe Events in the past 12 months – next year’s beer festival is truly looking the goods for summer, with a brand-new format across two sessions. There will be limited tickets available for each session with heaps of space to move, taste and groove.
The day session will run from 11am – 4pm with free masterclasses, activities for the kids and the best opportunity to mingle with the brains behind the brews, alongside the well-loved live entertainment aspect featuring The Badloves, The Settlement and local act the Violas. There’s just something about a cold beer and a live band… we can’t wait.
The evening session will be a hot ticket, running from 5pm – 10pm with Geelongs own Piano bar, roving cabaret performers and an epic lineup of live music featuring Art vs Science, The Fulton Street Band, Pirateska Rebellion and local act Immy Owusu. This session is all about the good vibes and we’d recommend jumping on a ticket, stat.
“We are working hard behind the scenes to ensure GABF 2022 is the best and brightest yet. With a new partnership with the BeerFest Australia brand, we have a team that have already delivered six successful COVID Safe events. We can’t wait to see you all sipping, sampling and socialising again,” says Festival Director Kieran Blood.
“We can’t wait to deliver the GABF experience that everyone knows and loves. We aim to deliver the perfectly crafted beer festival experience!”
Gearing up once again to take to the central location in 2022 with a new partnership helping forge the way, GABF will remain true to its core values and reputation as Australia’s most diverse and colourful beer festival, while also gaining an exceptional amount of experience, reach and added resources. This includes a continued focus on “local” with the Geelong region breweries as a priority, complimented with some of Australia’s best craft beer producers remaining key to the lineup alongside a vast selection of wines, seltzers, gins and cocktails from local distilleries and food trucks serving up BBQ meats, Geelongs best burgers and a whole lot more.
GABF overflows with fun, from the moment you set hands on your tasting glass, ‘til the time you’re tipping back your last beer of the day, and the return to the central location – just a short walk from Geelong station – will offer easier access for visitors and has plenty of accommodation and nightlife options for those kicking on afterward. How good’s that?
GABF will be returning on January 15, 2022 to the iconic and picturesque Johnstone Park with two sessions, 11am-4pm and 5pm-10pm.
Pre-registrations open from Wednesday, September 29 via www.gabf.com.au with pre-sale tickets on sale Tuesday October 12.
