A local is planning to launch a food truck park in South Geelong

Fingers crossed this one gets the green light.

If there’s something we like celebrating here at Forte, it’s food. And lots of it.

And one event that intends to do just that is potentially popping up in Geelong, according to planning documents lodged via the City of Greater Geelong.

Appealing to the local foodie lovers, the application was submitted by The Food Truck Projects and Geelong resident Aaron Dixon, who plans to develop a block of land on Little Fyans St in South Geelong for a food and drink premises (food trucks), inspired by Dixon’s similar past project ‘the Bird Watching Society’.

At a glance, the food truck park is set to include a decent sized grassed lounge area and information seating for up to 120 people, a row of parking space for food trucks, and a car park for the customers. It’s also set to include 20 bicycle parks to accommodate cyclists.

The Geelong Addy reported that the food truck park would be called The Sailing District, due to the sailing boat in the middle of the space, and will invite food trucks from Geelong and around the state.

The planning application is open for public comment until September 22, after which the City of Greater Geelong will make a decision on the proposal.

Geelong’s had great success with food trucks in the past, with the likes of The Inn’s Food Truck Fridays, Geelong’s Food Truck Fiesta, and Food Truck Friday in Little Malop Street.

Our fingers and toes are crossed for this one!
