Bellarine Pho pop-up restaurant returns, dishing out top-notch pho, dumplings and peking duck wraps for winter

If you're willing to stray from your go-to for a pho-fix, this is one gem we'd recommend trying out.

If you’re craving a steaming hot bowl of top-notch pho out on the Bellarine this winter, you’re in luck: Bellarine Pho is back and ready to dish out this quintessential winter staple for the next couple of months.

First arriving in early May last year and running until August, Bellarine Pho is a brilliant little pop-up that made its way onto the Bellarine Peninsula, setting up in the quaint town of Queenscliff at Trident Fish Bar Queenscliff. Tucked away in the corner of the local fish and chippery, the stall might have been miniature but locals didn’t let its size deceive them: the pho here is big on flavour, bringing all the zest of Vietnamese street food to the diners of the Bellarine.

Now this little gem is back for the winter month, once again becoming our latest go-to now that the region’s fresher temperatures have hit.

Running until 6 August, Bellarine Pho will be operating Thursday to Sunday from 4pm to 8pm, the menu packs a punch.

The big-ticket item on the menu is of course the pho. Every serve is made with slow-cooked beef broth, lemon, basil leaves, bean sprouts, spring onions, hoisin and chilli if you like, and then you can add your choice of protein – blue rare beef, well done beef, or chicken. You can also opt for a tofu pho which comes with a mushroom soup, as well as a mushroom medley. The rare beef has been the favourite so far.

Elsewhere on the menu, you’ll find a selection of delicious starters, including peking duck wraps, spring rolls, salt pepper squid, local mussels in red sauce, seafood egg noodles and handmade pork and chive dumplings! There’s also fresh rice paper rolls, mouth-watering vermicelli bowls alongside some sweet desserts like tiramisu, banana fritter and pineapple fritter, both of the latter served with ice cream.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also an all-you-can-eat mussel deal for just $24 (yes!), and a selection of BOBA CHA bubble cup milk tea brewed daily.

The business was designed primarily as takeaway, however, are offering dine in this year. So if you’re planning on slurping down your pho noodles, remember to leave your nice white clothing at home. Simply lookout for the crowds when trying to spot this one.
