While the weather is cooling down, we can’t say the same thing about the acts coming down to the Coast over the next few months.
Despite the recent lockdown and ever-changing restrictions, we’ve had a bit to look forward to with a slew of artists slated to perform over the next few months, including the likes of Paul Dempsey, Didirri, The Rubens, San Cisco and The Jungle Giants, allowing Victorian music lovers to return to one of their creature comforts, basking in some damn fine live music.
Well, now we’ve got a few more with the talented band booker at The Taylor Group lining up a bunch of gigs for the coastal venues, Torquay Hotel and the Barwon Heads Hotel.
Announced today, Australia’s self-made indie sensation Ziggy Alberts is coming our way in August for two special shows at the Barwon Heads Hotel, on Thursday August 26 and Friday August 27.
Returning to the live circuit with a 10-date east-coast regional tour this July-August, Alberts will be celebrating the release of his fifth studio album – ‘Searching For Freedom’ – that debut at #1 on the AIR Album Chart (independent labels) and #5 on the ARIA Australian Album Charts.
The follow up to his 2018 ARIA Gold Accredited album ‘Laps Around The Sun’, ‘Searching for freedom’ is an exploration into some of humanity’s most heartfelt and complex emotions, translated into beautiful simplicity by Alberts’ capable hands.
Tickets for both shows go on sale Thursday, 10 June 2021 at 10am.

Proving the iconic regional music venue’s skills in curating incredible Australian music, they’ve also got Hockey Dad bringing their 2020 Brain Candy album tour to both Torquay and Barwon Heads in September.
Releasing the textured, contemplative and thoughtful record in July last year, the surf rock duo had been due to tour nationally last June but were forced to postpone their shows in compliance with coronavirus-imposed venue restrictions.
Having finally hit the road, these coastal shows follow the national tour run and take place at the time when the band were originally slated to heading the inaugural Fresh Produce festival in Bendigo, which has since been cancelled.
Whether you’ve followed their trajectory from grommets to garage-rock royalty, or you’re making your Hockey Dad debut out of pure curiosity, you’ll be able to see them at Barwon Heads Hotel on Thursday September 23 and Torquay Hotel on Friday September 24. Tickets go on sale Friday, 11 June 2021 at 10am.
Rounding out the new announcements, British India is also bringing their good vibes down to the coast, hitting the Torquay Hotel on Saturday, July 10 and celebrating the return of founding guitarist Nic Wilson.
For fans of the band, you’d be well acquainted with their flourishing creativity since their hay day of 2007, taking bold moves to represent their identity which saw them go on and release six albums, including their 2017 Forgetting The Future, which truly represented the evolution of British India as a band, delving down a pathway of raw emotion in its most honest form.
Taking to the coastal venue, this will be the first time the original band have performed together since 2018, where they embarked on the Nic The Poet farewell tour spanning 24 dates across Australia.
Tickets for this one are on sale now here.
