It’s time to put away the floppy sunhats and breezy outfits and reach for your Nonna’s hand-knitted blankets, winter is officially here, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce about the seasons past. Back to summer in particular, when the sun was out, the ice cream would melt down our fingertips, our beaches were crowded and when we weren’t living through a global pandemic… good times, happy memories.
Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine are helping transport us to brighter times with #SummerUnleashed, a social photo and video competition that encouraged residents to unleash their creativity back in summer.
People around Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula were asked to submit videos and photos, making a hero of our region’s best locations and experiences to go in the running to win a share in the prize pool, which includes a DSLR camera, GoPros and accessories. Photos would be judged on their unique perspective, creativity, how they promote experiences and destinations in the Greater Geelong and Bellarine region (including Moorabool Valley and the Borough of Queenscliffe), and how well the content inspires and captures the audience.
With 100’s and 100’s of incredible entries over summer, the competition was unfortunately put on hold during isolation. Now, back to brighten our newsfeeds, they’ve managed to narrow it down to the final shortlist and are asking for people to vote by simply liking your favourites via Facebook.
Voting ends on Wednesday 3rd July, and winners will be contacted directly. You can find the shortlist here.
