For the first time ever, Amy will perform the entire set acoustically, with supporting, emotional and honest stories for every song.

Shark spoke to Forte Mag about her upcoming tour, and what audiences can expect at the intimate, acoustic shows.

“It’s actually one of the hardest tours ever to be honest, it’s just me up there controlling the whole thing without leaning on a band and lighting and pyro but it’s so rewarding,” she says.

“I get to just really be there with everyone and can control the night for whatever mood I’m in and whatever story I feel like telling, the songs still sound great acoustically.

“I’ve watched a lot of musicians do it over the years, Dashboard Confessional, Nirvana, Matchbox Twenty’s storyteller sessions, and I thought it would be a cool things for my fans to watch, I think they’d be into it.”

It’s a magic feeling, to play your songs acoustically, according to Shark.

“When your songs still have that addictive melody and the story, it’s almost easier for people to hear what the story is about and it’s more emotional,” she says.

“Selfishly I connect more when I’m just sitting there and it’s quiet; it’s a magic feeling.

“I like switching it up too; I love the feeling of running around a stage and having pyro go up but I was brought up like this, playing for no one on a stool, acoustic.

“I’m going back to those times but with songs I’m so proud of and fans supporting me, the energy in the room is amazing.

“In an arena the show has to be so slick and controlled but with these shows I’m able to be more emotional or tell stories I haven’t shared before, it’s a unique platform and really cool.”

Hitting the road with her team, Shark says she’s currently in writing mode and her schedule isn’t getting any freer.

“I’ve got a couple of books and my skateboard with me, but I’m in writing mode right now so I’ve also always got a guitar with me.

“I’ve been skating a lot lately, my nieces and nephews love it and I hang out with them heaps so I was forced into it and now I’m obsessed.”

Despite all the writing, Shark told audiences not to expect anything new for this tour.

“No new stuff in this tour  – don’t be so greedy!” she laughed.

“The next few years are getting chocked up with so many things and I’m not sure when I can do an acoustic tour like this again so don’t miss out on this one, it will be one hell of a show.”
