Triple j Unearthed announce grants for emerging artists

triple j Unearthed are offering emerging artists the opportunity to ‘level up’ their music careers by providing a number of grants. The Level Up Grants are part of ABC’s wider Fresh Start Fund, designed in response to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19 on the Australian music community.

With the current lack of income and opportunities for artists right now due to coronavirus, triple j Unearthed stated that this support is needed to help independent Australian musicians “build a sustainable career and continue to create incredible local content.”

In total, there will be 15 grants available, offering funding to a diverse range of artists throughout Australia.

Five grants will be offered to five artists across the categories of Band, Solo, Hip Hop, Heavy and Producers/Dance/Electronic; two grants will be offered to Indigenous artists and eight grants will be offered to artists based in regional areas – one for each state and territory.

With up to $7000 available per grant, funds can be spent on “multiple facets of the artist’s career development”, such as recording a new song, purchasing new instruments or recording equipment, or even video music production.

To be eligible, you must have at least one song uploaded to triple j Unearthed. To apply for a triple j Unearthed Level Up Grant, head to triplejunearthed.com. Applications are open now and close at Midnight 7 June.
