There are a few obstacles to starting a band and one of the biggest is finding the motivation to actually do it. So, this list is for you.
Following on from their thundering release ‘falling faster slowly’, Sydney-based alternative-rock group RADICALS have just unleashed their liberating new single ‘feel’ – produced by Daniel Antix at Def Wolf Studios (Pist Idiots, SCABZ, Clay J Gladstone).
A perceptible yet cathartic onslaught of gritty, dynamic rock, ‘feel’ is a blistering and gritty track, bolstered by evocative verses, led by the mollifying melodies from frontman Brandon Wade. Splashes of zeal make for the nostalgic and lively chorus, thwarting the listener with assailing instrumentation and potent hooks.
Pulling together an intense ride, the single is an empowering anthem to people with negative feelings towards themselves and who are really scared to be themselves.
With their unique brand of alt-rock and a number of live shows booked for across NSW, building on their previous sold-out headline shows, RADICALS are certainly one to watch over the next 12 months. Big things are coming – mark our words.
To celebrate the release, the band have shared their top five movies that will make you want to start a band.
“There are a few obstacles to starting a band and one of the biggest is finding the motivation to actually do it. So, this list is for you.”
TENACIOUS D IN THE PICK OF DESTINY
The funniest rock/metal movie of all time. If you haven’t seen this movie you need to.
It’s hilarious the whole way through and even though there’s only one scene of the band playing live to an audience (in which Jack Black makes a guy’s head explode from the raw power of his voice), it leaves you wanting to go out and play a triple necked guitar with 3 hands, or go down a waterfall with a sasquatch, or defeat the devil in a musical duel.
THE DIRT
If there’s a movie that would make you want to become a rockstar it’s The Dirt. Between all the sex, drugs and rock n roll its hard to believe half the stuff in this movie actually happened.
You’ll have to look past all the death, addiction and horrible actions from certain people in the film, but outside of that it’s a fun, energetic watch that just makes you want to pick up an instrument and melt some faces.
ROCK OF AGES
We only just watched this movie the other day and to be honest it kind of sucks. But there were 2 things this movie made us want to do:
1. Play a show
2. Have sex with Tom Cruise
If there is anything that could ever make you want to get off your ass, start a band and play music, it’s Tom Cruise as a drugged-out rockstar. If you’re needing that motivation to play music, love corny musicals, shit acting and Tom Cruise, then this movie is for you.
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
Everyone knows and loves this film, as they should. It’s arguable the greatest music biopic film of all time.
You obviously know Queen, but a lot of us never knew the back story and all the highs and lows. It takes you from their humble beginnings, all the way to them being the biggest band in the world. If that doesn’t make you want to start a band, I don’t know what will.
SCHOOL OF ROCK
The perfect rock and roll movie for people of all ages.
If you’re reading this list we’re sure you’ve most likely already seen this movie, but if you haven’t you need to. The name alone may sound corny but it’s a fun watch the whole way through. There really is something about watching Jack Black and a couple of young kids playing rock music that makes you want to get out there and do it yourself.
‘feel’ is available worldwide now.
