For those who haven’t got around the name Tommy Castles yet, what are you doing? He’s a local Surfcoast muso that is set to kick big goals in 2017 with his new EP Into My Thoughts. Before even researching into Castles, the immediate comparison that I can make is to English folk singer Ben Howard, who has captivated our hearts and minds with his heartfelt lyrics and energetic guitar playing on his tours of Australia on the back of his albums.
Just one listen to ‘Welcome Home’ and it’s easy to hear how Castles is built for big things. Soft sweet melodies and cruisy summer vibes is what Into My Thoughts is all about. Having supported the likes of Caravana Sun and Benny Walker in the last 12 months, as well as playing Falls, Queenscliff and Port Fairy Music Festivals, 2017 is shaping up to be the biggest year of Tommy Castles yet. The next month or so, Castles is hitting the road playing shows in NSW and QLD before a home time show of sorts at the Grace Darling in Collingwood on March 17. You’ve got a a month to get your head around one of the most exciting local EPs of 2017 so far, before you hit the dance floor! Top notch cruisy coastal vibes, thanks Tommy!
