Tim Hulsman

Geelong roots rock stalwart Tim Hulsman is set to hold a music video shoot at local art gallery and performance space, KUBU Studio, on Friday May 6th.

The decorated guitarist has been charging around the state over the last year, playing a bunch of shows to a growing fan-base on the back of acclaimed album Dead Man’s Garden. Hulsman was recently the recipient of the coveted Alex Legg Memorial Scholarship Award late in 2015, and is showing no signs of relaxing any time soon as he is currently preparing to record a new album and tour nationally in 2016.

The video shoot is his third with Geelong photo and video experts UP Creative. This time they are making a clip for Hulsman’s upcoming single ‘Lap Dog’. The song is an odyssey into his world of endearing lyrics and slick guitar.

Hulsman describes his new album as a return to his roots. It will be a nod to his initial rock’n’roll influences whilst carving out his own, distinctive sound and style, allowing his complex melodies, interesting & diverse song writing and pop sensibility to shine through. The new material is a step up in tempo, and intensity, from his latest release “Dead Man’s Garden”.

The event is completely free and Tim will be endeavouring to personally connect with all attendees as well as giving them exclusive first access to the song “Lap Dog” + an album of their choice from his back catalogue. It’s worth getting down there just for that!
A full set from Hulsman and his band will follow the initial period of filming for the single. The event promises to be a night of quality entertainment and you might even get your face in the video!

“There’re some lines that I want to get the audience to sing along with me…it’ll be fun.”
Hulsman would like the event to be a signal to the rest of the industry that Geelong’s music scene is alive and well. He encourages other musicians and faces of the Geelong community to get involved and share a spirit of solidarity and collaboration by making a music video together that reflects the vibrant arts culture in the region.

It’s no mistake that the event is to be held on the very same night as Geelong After Dark, of which Tim was a participant last year. This makes it a fantastic night to go out in Geelong’s CBD and be spoiled by the depth and breadth of the region’s cultural offerings.
Guests are encouraged to arrive from 7pm, as filming is set to commence at 8pm.
KUBU Studio is located at 14 Bayley Street, Geelong.
