The XX: I See You

The XX are back once again with I See You, and as you would expect, it’s a bloody ripper. Five years in the making, I See You takes inspiration from Jamie XX’s solo debut debut In Colour in the opening track ‘Dangerous’. Feeling halfway between a disco floor filler and an anthem sing-along, I See You feels like an album that delivers on everything that you’ve come to expect since 2012’s Coexist. It’s been a long time since Coexist but The XX no doubt will be welcomed back into the live arena fold once again with this release.

The silky signature vocals of Romy shine through on ‘Performance’ that features reverb-y guitar and a somewhat eerie string section. Placed halfway through the album, it is a perfect midway point for heading into the second side. If you have been looking for a relaxed easy way to mellow into the new year, then look no further than I See You. It may only be January but I can already tell that this is going to be on rotation all year.

In a few words, The XX have brought it to the table on album #3 and you should definitely check this album out. Delectable like that slice of Christmas pudding you are dreaming about. Get on it.
