The Light of Day Fundraiser Event

You don’t have to look too far to see the power music can hold. The Light of Day Foundation, Inc. began as a birthday party for music industry veteran Bob Benjamin who, in lieu of gifts, requested donations be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

More than $2000 was raised, which along with the general support was enough for concert promoter Tony Pallagrosi and musician Joe D’Urso to form the Light of Day charity.

The first official Light of Day concert was held in NJ’s legendary Stone Pony in November 2000 and featured a surprise guest appearance by Bruce Springsteen, whose song inspired the foundation’s name. Next month, Ocean Grove will host the third Light of Day concert. More than twenty artists will perform across several venues, including Chris Wilson, Sarah Carroll, Spectrum, Gallie, Sassy Soul Sister, Dave Wright and the Midnight Electrics, Evangeline, Dangerous Curves, Mark Lang (Skipping Girl Vinegar), Craig (Hornets), Victoriana Gaye, Steve McEwan and the Yesmen, Luke Legs and Brooke Allen. Legendary saxophonist Ed Manion will also perform.

Money raised will be split between the Shake it Up Foundation and the Light of Day Foundation. The event takes place across July 22 and July 23, with further information available through lightofdayaustralia.com.
