“The Lehman Trilogy” is a monumental production that unfolds across three acts in a single evening. Directed by the Academy Award and Tony Award-winner, Sam Mendes, and featuring an awe-inspiring set designed by Es Devlin, this play is the story of a family and a company that forever altered the course of history.

It all begins on a cold September morning in 1844, when a young man from Bavaria steps onto a New York dock, dreaming of a new life in the new world. He’s joined by his two brothers, marking the commencement of an extraordinary American saga. Over 163 years, the firm they establish, Lehman Brothers, catapults to the highest financial echelons, only to spectacularly collapse into bankruptcy, setting off the largest financial crisis in history.

This epic play masterfully weaves together nearly two centuries of family history, encompassing humble beginnings, colossal successes, and cataclysmic failure. The Lehman Trilogy offers a gripping portrayal of the financial institution that shook the global economy to its core.

The creative team behind this captivating production includes set designer Es Devlin, costume designer Katrina Lindsay, video designer Luke Halls, lighting designer Jon Clark, composer and sound designer Nick Powell, co-sound designer Dominic Bilkey, music director Candida Caldicot, movement director Polly Bennett, and associate directors Zoé Ford Burnett and Rory McGregor.

The National Theatre has previously delighted Sydney audiences with hit productions like the international phenomenon “War Horse,” the award-winning “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” and the critically acclaimed comedy “One Man, Two Guvnors.”

The journey of “The Lehman Trilogy” began with its first commission by Neal Street Productions, followed by successful runs at the Lyttelton Theatre, the Park Avenue Armory, the Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End, Broadway, the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, and a return to London’s West End in 2023.

Tickets will be available for pre-sale to American Express Card Members starting on the 16th of October at 2 pm, followed by general on-sale commencing at 10 am on the 18th of October 2023.
