Geelong Rainbow Festival returns for 2024, celebrating diversity and pride.

Geelong is gearing up to showcase its vibrant LGBTQIA+ community with the annual Geelong Rainbow Festival, set to take place on February 17, 2024. This free event promises a day filled with pride, celebration, and a vibrant display of diversity.

The festivities kick off with the Festival Pride March, where participants will gather at 9:30 am in Johnstone Park. The march, a colourful display of solidarity and acceptance, will commence at 10:00 am, weaving through the streets of Geelong before returning to Johnstone Park for the main festival at 11:00 am.

The Geelong Rainbow Festival offers a safe and inclusive space for people of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate their true selves. With a diverse lineup of live performances, including drag acts, acoustic music, and spoken word, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to the entertainment, attendees can explore community service stalls, browse market stalls, and indulge in delicious treats from food trucks. The event will be hosted by Glambassador Goldie Cox, and the festival will feature performances by 2Joocee and Izzy Inyette.

Founded in 2017 as a social group for the G21 Region, Geelong Rainbow quickly evolved into an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering the local LGBTQIA+ community. The Geelong Rainbow Festival, first held in 2018, has since become a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar, attracting people from all walks of life.

Geelong Rainbow is committed to providing support services, fostering connections, and promoting inclusivity within the G21 LGBTIQA+ community. Their vision is to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their identity.
