The first trailer for the long-awaited Bill and Ted Face the Music is finally here, coinciding with the franchise’s official day yesterday (“69 dudes!” = 6/9).
Reminding us all to be excellent to each other, the film sees Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves return for their roles as Bill and Ted, which they first played more than 30 years ago in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure in 1989. The original film was followed by a sequel in 1991, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, with the upcoming and very long-awaited release being the third in the franchise.
Directed by Dean Parisot with returning franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the two middle aged best friends are now fathers but have yet to fulfil their rock ‘n’ roll destinies. Their lives change when they are visited by a messenger from the future who warns them that only their song can save life as we know it, prompting Bill, Ted and their daughters (played by Ready or Not star Samara Weaving and Atypical actor Brigette Lundy-Paine) to embark on another adventure.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is slated to open in cinemas on August 21st.
