The Bendigo Blues & Roots Festival are live streaming gigs in some of Bendigo’s best destinations

With the current social distancing requirements and restrictions for live music venues and festivals set to remain in place for the time being, a new reality of life under self-quarantine has seen a rise in live-streaming gigs, an easy and effective way for artists to share some musical joy during these trying times as well as keep their skills in check.

Now the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival is joining in on all the fun, presenting a series of live stream and recorded events in some of Bendigo’s best destinations.

First off, this Friday 29 May 2020, Bill Barber and the Revelators, like the gold miners of the past, are going down beneath the city at Rocks Underground to showcase their powerful and intense brand of Blues to an audience of online supporters who will be getting their groove on, just as if they were there in person!

At 23 years of age, Bill is at the forefront of a new generation of Australian Blues. In July 2017, Bill won the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society Blues Challenge, making him the youngest winner in its history, and sent him on a journey to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge in January 2018 where he was one of 32 semi-finalists out of over 200 acts from across the globe. Huge!

Fast forward and Bill has gained notoriety as a songwriter with a powerful, raw, deeply personal and at times brutal honesty. What sets Bill apart is his dedication to the Blues, while he borrows influences from various genres, his music is always deeply rooted in the blues. If you dig music gold then get ready for the mother lode from Bill Barber and The Revelators.

The live streaming events will continue with the Blues Tram presenting Aaron Pollock and Strawberry Jamz on Saturday 13 June, with more talented artists to come.

The events will be live streamed via the Festival’s facebook page with contributions welcomed by supporters to help fund the live streaming costs to keep music live in Bendigo while restrictions are in place.
