The Avalanches just locked in a Melbourne show

The Avalanches are set to play a headline Melbourne show as an official sideshow of Falls.

The announcement comes in the wake of their long awaited and critically acclaimed album, Wildfire, which saw the group return to the airwaves after 13 years of absence.

Having spawned the singles ‘Frankie Sinatra’ and ‘Subways’, their return was capped off with a set at Splendour in the Grass. Their forthcoming shows, however, will see a step in a new direction.

“We had time coming in to Splendour, but probably not as much as we would have liked, to make the show as good as we could. Now we have the time,” said Tony Di Blasi to The Sydney Morning Herald. “Splendour was a matter of playing the songs as they were, but now we’ll be doing extensions and rejigging a few. We’ll take the music to the new level we know it can get to.”

They’ll play Melbourne Town Hall on January 3. Visit the website for tickets and more info.
