Following the successful summer pop-up in Queenscliff, Geelong’s famed 1920s Prohibition-style cocktail bar is setting up shop permanently.
We talk a lot about Geelong’s famed 1920s Prohibition-style cocktail bar The 18th Amendment and for good reason. Australian hospitality veteran Gorge Camorra raised the bar on cocktail offerings in regional Victoria when he opened the bar in Geelong.
While providing the people of Geelong with one of the most spectacular drinking experiences they’ve ever had, Camorra continued to innovate, expanding to Ballarat, winning multiple awards, employing and fostering some of the best bartenders in Australia (Indra Saryani, we’re looking at you!), all while celebrating cocktail culture and educating his consumers, presenting classic cocktails with a contemporary twist.
Now following a successful pop-up run in Queenscliff, the famed bar has fallen in love with the seaside holiday destination and is setting up shop permanently.

Teaming up with The Royal Queenscliff over the summer, a grand gateway to the seaside holiday town, residents and tourists to the Bellarine became privvy to a new ‘Summer Gallery and Cocktail Bar’ pop-up.
Taking over the historic Queenscliff hotel which has undergone extensive restoration in recent years, this brilliant collaboration featured all the things you love about the region, from exciting cocktails, beautiful abstract art and bespoke interior pieces, combining the passions of three local businesses into one epic new weekend experience.
With Camorra bringing the delights from his cocktail bar to the venue, guests could indulge in cocktails with a view, all while taking in the beautiful artworks from the featured artists and breathing life back into the majestic venue which has been closed since 2017.
Unsurprisingly, it was a roaring success, with the bar even hosting their own glitzy Gangsters and Dames Ball at the grand hotel more recently. With so much support from customers, locals and tourists, it was clear there was a space in the market for the bar to operate on a regular basis from the seaside elegance of The Royal Queenscliff.
The gallery at the grand hotel has since been closed but is due to open again this weekend from April 9 with a fresh exhibition featuring new works by Joan Blond Art, beautiful works by Aliki K and the wonderous seascapes of Jud Keresztesi, coinciding with the official opening of the permanent 18th Amendment Bar in Queenscliff.
The bar is now operating Friday’s from 5pm to 10pm and Saturdays from 3pm till 10pm but hours will grow as it gets closer to summer!
