Tastes of Greater Geelong returns this winter for a three-week celebration of the region’s best food and wine offerings.

Culinary celebration, Tastes of Greater Geelong returns today for a huge three-weeks of events. Running Friday 21 June until Sunday 14 July 2024, the program boasts more than 100 unique outdoor experiences, interactive events, special menus, talks, masterclasses and more.

The Winter Warm-up

When: Friday 21 June

Where: Little Malop Street

Cost: Free

Enjoy a free snow show and dazzling light projections, transforming Little Malop Central into a charming European-inspired winter wonderland. From the icy winter warmers of mulled wine or creamy hot chocolate, complimentary marshmallow roasting by the fire and sweet treats for that sugar boost, this event transports your tastebuds to the Winter Markets of Europe. The atmosphere is further heighted by live music performances, fairy lights, and roving entertainment.

Dinner on the Ground at Barwon Edge

When: From Friday 21 June

Where: Barwon Edge Restaurant, 40 Windsor Road, Newtown

Cost: $98 per person (bookings required)

The glorious grounds of Barwon Edge will be open for one night only, on the Winter Solstice to welcome outdoor dinners. Featuring a Middle Eastern-inspired menu, the menu highlight is a succulent lamb cooked on the spit, accompanied by a variety of communal side dishes showcasing some of the restaurant’s newest offerings. With arrival canapés and beverages from the kiosk bar service, this is a showstopper event.

Farm table experience with Simon Toohey

When: Saturday 13 July & Sunday 14 July from 10.30am – 3pm

Where: The Paddock, Leopold, 21-29 O’Halloran Rd, Leopold

Cost: $60 per person (bookings required)

Masterchef alumni, plant-based cook and sustainability advocate, Simon Toohey, is set to take you on a culinary adventure, unpacking the world of sustainable cooking through demonstrations and tastings.

Portarlington Mussel Tours Meets Oakdene Wines

When: Saturday 22 June, 12 – 3pm

Where: 76 Newcomb Street, Portarlington

Cost: $250 per person (bookings required)

Head out onto the Bay on a 40-year old vessel, as Portarlington Mussel Tours takes you out mussel farming, followed by cooking demonstrations paired with Oakdene Wines.

High Tea Featuring Native Australian Ingredients at The Davidson

When: Friday 5 July

Where: The Davidson, 2 Fenwick Street, Geelong (The Gordon)

Cost: $45 per person (bookings required)

Experience the rich aromas and flavours of the Australian bush with a delightful high tea at The Davidson. The talents chefs, teachers and students will present foods and tea using native ingredients which you will learn the origins of thanks to a special guest speaker.

Geelong Arts And Eats Tasting Trail

When: Saturday 22 June & 29 June, 10.30am

Where: Beginning from Murran First Nations Hub, 143 – 157 Malop Street, Geelong

Cost: $25 per person (bookings required)

Club Chin Chin Cooking with Cooper: Kids Cooking Edition

When: Wednesday 3 July, 11am – 1pm

Where: Club Chin Chin, GMHBA Stadium

Cost: $90 per person (booking required)

Mini chefs have their chance to work with the best as Chef Benjamin Cooper leads an interactive masterclass learning how to make spring rolls, dumplings and more. Made for children between the ages of 8 and 15, this session requires an adult accompaniment.

Bottomless Drinks at Tempo Bar and Kitchen

When: Friday 21 June – Saturday 14 July

Where: Tempo Bar and Kitchen, 10 – 14 Eastern Beach Road

Cost: $50 per person (booking required)

Can’t deny a bottomless drinks package? Tempo Bar and Kitchen have you sorted! With two hour sessions available to add on to any lunch, dinner or bar snack this is value for money.

Leega Kimchi Making Class

When: Every Sunday afternoon, Friday 21 June – Saturday 14 July

Where: Leega Korean Barbeque, 2/37 Gheringhap Street, Geelong

Cost: $40 per person (booking required)

Discover the art of making iconic Korean dish, Kimchi. This hands-on experience takes you through the process of making your own Kimchi to take home, including the process of fresh ingredient picking, fermentation and balancing flavours.

Splatters Cheese and Beer Masterclass with Blackman’s Brewery

When: Friday 28 June, 6.30pm – 9.00pm

Where: Splatters Cheese Bar, 168-170 Pakington Street, Geelong West

Cost: $39 per person

This duo cannot quit – after running a successful collaborative Beer and Cheese Festival, Splatters Cheese Bar and Blackman’s Brewery team up again for a tasting masterclass. Four beers paired with four wines is a winning combination.
