These emerging artists were carefully selected from the rich pool of talent in the West, and their tour is about creating new fans and connections outside their hometown. The tour will feature The Stamps, Sash Seaborn, and Ullah, three acts whose sounds represent the incredible diversity of the West’s music scene.
The Stamps: Folk-Pop Marvels
The Stamps, a folk-pop trio hailing from Perth, create mesmerising harmonies and thoughtful lyrics in the vein of artists like BoyGenius and The Staves. Scarlett, Rubina, and Sofia, who came together in 2020 while studying at Fremantle College, have taken the Perth music scene by storm. They have graced the stages of WAMFest, Nannup Music Festival, Fairbridge Festival, and more. Their passion for live performance ignited at Nannup 2020 during a school tour, leading to the birth of The Stamps.
Sash Seaborn: Rising Folk Star
Sash Seaborn, an award-winning songwriter from WA, is making a name for himself in the Australian folk scene. He’s a WAM Award winner, a Triple J Unearthed Artist to Watch, a featured artist on RTRfm, and a Top 10 finalist on Australian Idol. Growing up in the surf town of Margaret River has significantly influenced his craft, resulting in a style that draws from the rugged landscapes of his hometown. Sash’s music captures the essence of coastal life with a refreshing twist.
Ullah: Delicate and Honest Lyricism
Ullah is an artist with a voice that lays bare the fragility and unique impact of adolescence. Her delicate lyrics are unapologetically honest, driving home themes of tender truths. Since 2021, Ullah has been captivating audiences around Perth and Fremantle while supporting artists like Jack Davies and the Bush Chooks, Abbe May, Noah Dillon, and Banjo Lucia. Ullah and her band use their music to create a cathartic release and connect with their listeners on a profound level.
The specific venues for Sofar’s West Meets East Tour are a closely guarded secret until the week of each show. However, if previous Sofar tours are any indication, attendees can expect everything from shows in libraries to vineyards, always in unexpected and unique settings.
Sofar Sounds was born out of frustration with the typical concert-going experience. It started in a London living room in 2009 with pass-the-hat, artist-donation performances. Over the last decade, it has organically grown into a global platform, connecting artists and audiences through live music. Sofar provides a unique live experience that focuses on artist discovery and building a strong music community in unconventional spaces such as living rooms, art galleries, and breweries, across 78 countries.
