Smashville Chicken and Burger is bringing spicy Nashville-style fried chicken and brisket blend patties to Geelong

Meet Smashville Chicken and Burgers.

Well well well, look who is bringing spicy Nashville-style fried chicken to Newcomb?!

Coming to you from the Mulita BBQ squad, Smashville is the newest place bringing that chook to life with various seasonings, textures, and techniques.

Taking over a small shopfront in Newcomb, previously Ricky’s Fish & Chips, Smashville Chicken and Burger Shack does exactly what its name suggests, serving up a range of Nashville-style fried chicken and epic burger combinations to-go.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news via our website.

Having already earned themselves a solid reputation for American BBQ with fresh and vibrant Mexican influences out in North Geelong for the past few years via Mulita, the crew have really honed in on their skills for meat and rich flavours with this new venture, perfecting the art of whipping up mean burgers from scratch that will have you licking your fingers for days.

Here, you’ll find a range of out-of-this-world delicious burgers including the ‘Deluxe Cheeseburger’ with double brisket blend patties, double American cheddar, butter lettuce, tomato, white onion, pickles, smashville sauce and potato bun, the ‘Quad Smash’ with four (yes four!!!!) brisket blend patties, four American cheese, white onion, pickles, bbq sauce, smashville sauce and a potato bun, a ‘Barbeque Bacon’ with double brisket blend patties, double American cheddar, cripsy bacon, bbq sauce, smashville sauce and potato bun, and of course the signature ‘Smashville’ burger, made with double brisket blend patties, double American cheddar, fried hot chicken fillet, butter lettuce, tomato, pickles, smashville sauce and a potato bun.

Sounds pretty good, huh? We’re not done yet.

They also have something for the vegetarians, with their ‘Better Than Beyond’ burger that’s got double veg smash patties, American cheddar, lettuce, tomato, white onion, pickles, smashville sauce and a potato bun.

What they create is nothing short of burger puppetry, a true understanding of what it is that makes a burger a burger, then melding together ideas to create something that’s greater than the sum of its parts. And they’re fairly priced for what you get, with the cheeseburger and vego burger sitting at $10.90 and the Quad Smash (which gets you four patties) sitting at just $16.90.

If biting into a golden crispy piece of fried chicken or sucking the meat of a tender chicken wing is more your style, they excel in that department too with some of the best-fried chicken in the city. With chicken being the hero, you can order a ‘Hot Chicken Sandwich’ with a seasoned thigh fillet, slaw, pickles, smashville sauce and potato bun, opt for the ‘Juicy Tenders’ which some with white bread, pickles and a choice of sauce, or a ‘Hot Shake Popcorn Chicken’ which are simply boneless bites, pickles and a choice of sauce.

Much like most chicken joints these days, here you get to pick your chicken level spice, which ranges from Southern, Medium, Hot Funk, Poppin’ Hot or Scorpian Disco, while sauces include the likes of Smashville sauce, Chipotle mayo, ranch, Frank’s buffalo, sweet & hot, or tomato.

The menu is wonderfully succinct and is rounded out with sides like fries, creamy slaw, potato salad, pickles and of course Down South Loaded Fries, which come with hot tenders, nacho cheese, smashville sauce, slaw and pickles. Oooft. And don’t worry the kids aren’t forgotten either. Here you’ll find a sliders cheeseburger, tenders or a classic hot dog which comes with fries, ketchup and a juice box.

There’s also scope for beers too in the not too distant future, with the venue revealing their intention to apply for a liquor license too.

Smashville will operate from 5pm to 8:30pm Monday-Saturday, opening from 11:30am on Fridays only. Check it out via the website here, or drop in and support these legends at 54 Charles Street, Newcomb.
