Slate Pool Lounge's 5th Birthday Masquerade Party

One of Geelong’s most stable, popular and much loved venues is Slate Pool Lounge. For almost five years this versatile venue has enjoyed a healthy clientele with patrons rolling up to enjoy a game of pool or a drink before they make their way to town. So it is without a moments hesitation owner Johl has decided to celebrate the venues fifth birthday with a massive masquerade party on Saturday, January 9. The night will include music from a guest DJ, DJ Moose and Kay Gibbons performing live, free pool all night and the first drink is on the house for quests arriving between 7-8pm. To top it all off, Slate Pool Lounge are also giving away $500 cash for the best Masquerade mask on the night – so they encourage everyone to come up with something impressive. Imagine waking up with a healthy hangover, having had a great night, to find $500 in your wallet or purse when you wake up in the morning!?
Slate Pool Lounge is not your typical pool hall, despite housing 27 pool tables, you can easily enjoy a quiet drink whilst kicking back in one of many designated lounge areas. You can call ahead to book which creates a space that is personal for private groups or even couples. With competitively priced drinks (amongst  the cheapest in Geelong) The venue is the perfect place to meet up with mates for pre drinks ahead of a big night out. The venue is also Geelong’s best for events, offering a spacious area on our third level which plays host to many different functions throughout the year. The upstairs functions areas includes six pool tables and comfortably accommodates 50-150 quests. Functions over 50 generally have access to their own private bar and party goers can enjoy the state of the art entertainment system offering the best music and music clips to suit all ages.
Licensed till 1am and open seven days a week sees Slate Pool Lounge play host from the serious player to the beginners. The venue houses around 100 league players every Wednesday, and also have ladies night on a Tuesday and a laid back social comp on Thursdays.
“Slate Pool Lounge’s key focus over the last five years has been to maintain a quality product with friendly service, a safe comfortable environment and very competitive drink prices. We have found great success in trying different things varying from DJs to live music and even a bogan bingo night,” Johl says.
So why not organise a group of friends, get your mask sorted out and come down on January 9 to play a round of pool and dance the night away. Forte Magazine and crew, also wish Johl and the team a happy 5th Birthday.
