Muso is bringing back great live music to your local, supporting artists and re-affirming the glory in one of Australia’s longest standing cultural legacies.
After initially announcing the concept last year but being forced to reschedule due to COVID, Muso – the locally-founded live music booking and management platform that connects venues and musicians – has reignited its massive plan to host a huge, 500-show tour throughout 100 Australian pubs this year with ‘Rise of the Pub Gig’.
Taking place at some of Australia’s favourite pubs, ‘Rise of the Pub Gig’ will feature an incredible lineup of local musicians at 500 shows throughout the months of June and July.
The key takeaways
- Live music booking and management platform Muso announces huge, 500-show tour throughout 100 Australian venues in June and July
- Each of the 100 venues chosen for the tour will host five gigs each
- Venues and artists interested in participating are encouraged to express interest via Muso’s website.

Injecting some serious energy into the live music circuit, the tour is supported by the City of Sydney and Creative Victoria, as well as the Federal Government’s Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) fund with Muso calling on artists and venue owners to sign up now to join the tour via the Muso website. Local pubs, local musicians – this means you!
With an aim to help venues establish new live music offerings across the country, each of the 100 venues chosen for the tour will host five gigs each, giving venues the kick-start they need to host ongoing live music, which in turn increases income for musicians and offers more gig experiences for punters.
All gigs at 100 venues will be funded by Muso, which covers the cost of artist fees, social media promotion, as well as provided with free access to Muso and their team. If that wasn’t enough, Muso is also there to help venues that are looking to establish a new live music offering and encourages any venue to sign up, regardless of prior live music experience.
“The pub has long lived within the heart and soul of Australian live music. Many of Australia’s legacy acts cut their teeth in sweaty band rooms, performing to local crowds across the country as they gained loyal followers along the way,” says Muso co-founder Alan Jin.
“Often loud, experiential and raw, these performances went down multiple nights a week, providing a crucial incubator experience for artists and their communities. These events shaped what has become Australia’s vibrant and thriving music scene. Of course, COVID has had a devastating impact on the live music experience. The industry is broken and hurting. Musicians, venues and patrons alike are hungry for performances to come back in intimate and high-frequency settings.
The Rise of the Pub Gig tour will hopefully give venues the confidence they need to kickstart their original live music experiences by removing the risk of cost and promotion, allowing great talent to be heard once again, bringing people together in safe but enjoyable ways.
Whether you’re a venue owner looking to host live music, or an artist seeking gigs, Muso are encouraging you to sign up today to join the 500 date tour and celebrate the return of live music in pubs.
Muso is due to reveal the The Rise of the Pub Gig details shortly, with the full line-up of artists and venues taking part announced later this month. You can sign up or find out more here.
