Xavier Rudd, The Dreggs, Emily Wurramara, Mama Kin Spender and Round Mountain Girls all set to hit the beachside stage.

Brace yourselves, beach lovers and music enthusiasts, because the Make A Difference Charity (MAD) has just dropped the bombshell that Xavier Rudd, The Dreggs, Emily Wurramara, Mama Kin Spender, and Round Mountain Girls are set to grace the sun-soaked stage at the 2024 Ride the Sound Wave festival. The news comes just in time for a festive treat, as tickets go on sale from 10 am on Monday, December 18th.

Known for curating stellar line-ups featuring some of Australia’s finest folk and roots stars, the MAD team is gearing up for the fourth edition of Ride the Sound Wave on April 6th, 2024, in the idyllic coastal setting of Port Macquarie.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

But this festival isn’t just about the music; it’s about making a difference. Ride the Sound Wave is the brainchild of MAD, a not-for-profit volunteer-run charity that’s been serving up meals to over 5000 adults and 1000 children in the Hastings region in 2023 alone. The festival aims to raise much-needed funds to support families and individuals in need across the region.

Headlining the festival is the ARIA award-winning multi-instrumentalist and environmental crusader, Xavier Rudd. He’s pumped about being part of this musical celebration on Birpai country in Port Macquarie. Other fantastic acts joining Rudd include indie-folk duo The Dreggs, the rising star Emily Wurramara, and the dynamic Mama Kin Spender alongside Round Mountain Girls.

For the first time, Ride the Sound Wave will introduce a new children’s concert, Ride the Sound Wave Kids, offering pre-show entertainment for the mini-festival goers. The Teeny Tiny Stevies, an ARIA Award-winning children’s music group, will headline, and there will be a range of fun kids’ activities, including face painting, pony rides, and a jumping castle.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Port Macquarie’s Town Beach, tickets for the all-ages Ride the Sound Wave main event and Ride the Sound Wave Kids are set to fly off the virtual shelves on Monday, December 18th, via Ticketebo.

Erin Denham, Director of MAD & RTW Event Coordinator, expressed the team’s excitement about the line-up and encouraged everyone to snag tickets just in time for the festive season. Last year’s events raised over $100,000, and they’re aiming to surpass that figure in 2024.

Beyond the music, the Ride the Wave festival promises three days of surf with a Junior Pro Surf competition and a Ride the Wave skate competition. With the addition of a new schools-based surf competition and the festival’s recognition as a WSL Junior State Finals qualifying event, 2024 is poised to be bigger and better.

The Ride the Wave festival will run from Tuesday, 2nd April, to Saturday, 6th April, 2024, delivering a feast of music, culture, and community at the Ride the Sound Wave event on Saturday, 6th April. Market and food stalls will complement the festivities.

Tickets will go on sale from Monday December 18th, 2023. Find out more here
