"When was the last time you saw the sign completely lit up? We can’t remember…"

Let there be light … the sign outside Barwon Club has been fully restored thanks to the good folks at the Greater City of Geelong. Appearing now in all its neon glory, all the letters of HOTEL now blaze bright for the first time in forever.

Stay up to date with what’s happening across the region here.

Established in 1990, The Barwon Club Hotel – affectionately known as the BC – has proved to be Geelong’s leading venue for live bands. They were at the crux of the Geelong ’90s rock scene, and they’ve gone from strength to strength ever since, providing G-town with a steady flow of live bands, cold beer and wild stories.

“Our original hotel sign has been restored!” Barwon Club stated on their Facebook. “A big thank you to the City of Greater Geelong (via their Heritage Grants), Lincon for assisting with the grant application and Tim from Signarama Geelong for restoring our sign to it’s former glory!

“When was the last time you saw the sign completely lit up? We can’t remember… Each letter slowly disappeared over the years, it read as “HO” for a while there… Then “O”, then nothing for the past 18 months.”

Keep shining, BC.
