Monthly farmers’ markets return to the Convent in May with the Regional Farmers Market, one of the oldest and most established operators of farmers markets in Australia.

For lovers of local and sustainable produce, you’re in luck: the Abbotsford Convent will soon be home to a new monthly farmers market with the arrival of Regional Farmers Markets.

As one of Australia’s most established market operators, the Regional Farmers Markets will be bringing 40 stalls featuring the best growers, makers and producers from across Victoria,  including seasonal fresh produce, delicious foods and condiments from Victorian farmers, producers and specialty makers – with a special focus on our favourite regional communities.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.

Fans can check out the revitalized market starting on this Saturday, May 13. It’ll be running from 8am to 1pm, with plans to return on the second Saturday of every month.

Costing a $2 coin entry, the market will have a rotating list of stalls which will soon be announced via social media.

Regional Farmers Markets has been operating farmers markets in Melbourne and the surrounding areas for over 18 years, including those in Williamstown, Essendon and Churchill Island. The organisation prioritizes sustainability, food security and female representation.

This marks an exciting addition to The Convent, having previously hosted the Abbotsford Convent Market for 20 years. If you’re a Melbourne marketeer, you probably remember saying a heartfelt goodbye to the Abbotsford Convent market when it shut down in the summer last year.

Grab your family, bundle up, and come stock up on fruit, veggies and so much more for the week. The convent grounds will be open all afternoon, so feel free to stroll around and enjoy the gardens while you’re at it.
