Local craft beers and music from independent live musicians; you couldn’t find a better combination if you tried… and now you don’t have to.
Boutique management company Possum Stomp is backing two wildly talented musicians and taking them on the road for Possum Stomp’s first-ever Brewery Tour this weekend.
Possum Stomp has been booking, promoting and managing bands and tours in Melbourne, interstate and overseas since 2015 so it’s a natural trajectory to now put on their very own tour.
Taking to Cornella Brewery, a microbrewery based at The Shiraz Republic, and Bodriggy Brewpub, a new brewery-home located in Abbotsford culminating in a brewery, brewpub and cocktail bar, the Possum Stomp Brewery Tour will see both Leah Senior and Steph Strings perform.
Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.
Leah Senior is a folk singer-songwriter who’s been carving her place firmly within the local scene over the past few years, silencing audiences with her ethereal vocals and vivid lyricism time after time.
Hailed by critics as a divine masterpiece, her latest album The Passing Scene (2020) is a charming expansion on her previous two records, lilting between springtime baroque-pop and 70’s folk. Leah’s vocals have the clarity of British folk diviner Sandy Denny, whilst her songwriting style ranges from contemplative folk to a playfulness likened to Paul McCartney. Her captivating live performances have seen her perform extensively throughout Australia and Europe.
She’ll take to the stage at both breweries with her full band to deliver her infectious springtime baroque-pop and 70s folk.
Much like Leah, Steph Strings is a multi-instrumentalist who tells a story through her music. With influences from the John Butler Trio, Tash Sultana and Ziggy Alberts, her music entails bursts of percussion alongside Celtic, blues and coastal fingerstyle indie-rock.
2020 saw Steph perform an incredible sold-out show at Melbourne’s iconic Chapel off Chapel venue, as well perform shows with The Pierce Brothers, Kim Churchill, Ash Grunwald and many more. Steph also performed at Winter Wine Festival in New South Wales alongside Ziggy Alberts and Garrett Kato and most recently she performed at Ocean Sounds Festival and in Torquay supporting Boy & Bear.
The talented, rapidly rising, indie-folk artist just released her new single ‘Dusty Road’ last month. Produced by Tyson Fish (who has worked with Vance Joy, The Living End, Children Collide, Bad//Dreems and more), this is the first single Steph Strings has released featuring vocals, following on from the instrumental ‘Allegoric Oceans’ EP she released during high school in 2018.
Steph is a uniquely gifted, emerging talent that is a must-see at one of these breweries this weekend.
