First up on Thursday, April 28, the conversation event will begin with blues icon and guitar virtuoso Lloyd Spiegel.
For 30+ years, Lloyd has put in blood, sweat and tears performing professionally around the globe, his passion for blues unwavering. Picking up the instrument at age four, Lloyd played his first professional show at age ten and was touring the east coast of Australia at 12… and he hasn’t stopped since.
With 10 albums to his name, the Australian Blues master and acoustic guitarist extraordinaire showcases in each release the extreme capabilities and mastery of his creative mind, delving into delicate realities through his music.

Next, on Monday, May 2, the event will host a conversation with pop-rock singer-songwriter Ali Barter.
The former triple j unearthed winner Ali Barter will be coiling around our souls with delicate harmonies, ramblin’ and effortless cool at this intimate event.
Five years on from her blistering debut A Suitable Girl, Barter has since released her sophomore album Hello, I’m Doing My Best – a revealing collection of songs that track her most formative relationships: to her body, her instincts, sobriety and the old vices it counteracts, and the people she loves most, followed by the release of her EP Chocolate Cake. Released last year, the EP is predominantly made up of songs originally intended for Barter’s third album until the pandemic forced a change of plans on the Melbourne-based artist. The four-track project sees Barter move away from straight ’90s grunge-pop, a genre that has defined her music since 2016’s lauded debut album ‘A Suitable Girl’.
Now experimenting with speak-singing, electronic textures, and elevating her classic pop melodies, Barter will have a lot to talk about at this brilliant and awe-inspiring event. You’ll hear stories from her recording sessions, touring, doing Triple J ‘Like a Version’ and much more.
The ‘A Conversation With’ event takes place at Oxygen College, 22 Gordon Ave, Geelong West. This is a free event, however, guests must register their attendance via email.
