Boy & Bear to headline By The Pier festival in Queenscliff this Friday

The indie folk group will replace San Cisco at By The Pier festival.

Taking to the tiny seaside village on the Bellarine Peninsula, By The Pier is happening this weekend, promising to be an unreal three-day celebration of music, art and mateship with a brilliantly curated lineup of the crème de la crème of Australian music, consisting of a bunch of iconic names originally announced for the 24th iteration of QMF.

Ahead of the festivities, the new festival has today announced a lineup change.

San Cisco is no longer able to perform their headline slot at By The Pier this Friday, due to a positive COVID case within the touring party.

While we’ll miss the Fremantle indie-pop favourites and their infuriatingly catchy tunes and self-described “squelchy, crisp, indie vibes”, in their place we’ve got Aussie indie-folk group Boy & Bear taking on headliner duties, performing 10:30pm to 11:30pm.

Since being unearthed by triple j in 2009 with ‘The Storm’, they have gone on to become one of the biggest names all over the world. Infamous for their blissful five-part vocal harmonies and their relaxed 70s inspired acoustic vibes, Boy & Bear have over the years woven their music into the hearts of Australia.

Their debut album Moonfire (2011) reached double-platinum sales, won five ARIA Awards and three songs in the triple j Hottest 100. Their sophomore album Harlequin Dream (2013) achieved platinum sales and the #1 spot on the ARIA Album chart staying in the top ten for five weeks. They followed up with Limit Of Love (2015), resulting in their second ARIA #1 album debut.

Boy & Bear’s trademark live performance warmth and charisma was experienced by over 65,000 people last Australian summer. Crowds grinned from ear to ear as they joined forces to sway together, sing their hearts out and reminisce on their fondest memories.

Taking to the inaugural By The Pier stage, lead singer Dave Hosking is sure to push listeners into a serene trance.

Boy & Bear join Friday’s lineup alongside Electric Fields Pierce Brothers, The Rions, Bones & Jones and Cry Baby, kicking off what promises to be the hottest musical weekend on the calendar with its beachside, open-air setting, great food options to nourish your soul as well as your tummy.

Running across this weekend on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, this new event promises an intimate festival experience for music lovers with tickets limited to a single outdoor stage set up on the familiar festival stomping ground of the Queenscliff foreshore, all aimed at providing a vibrant three days of sensational sounds, gourmet food trucks, bars, a DJ Tent and of course sun sea and sand to go with!

By The Pier takes place from March 25-27 2022 at the same location as the Queenscliff music festival. Single-day tickets are available for $79 and Weekend tickets from $199. Tickets here
