The Fair Trade Deakin University Student Club will be organising their second Oxjam event for 2015 being held at Geelong’s Workers Club. Oxfam being very happy with the results of the first event held by the same team, immediantly offered its support for the Oct 1 event. Oxfam have been using live music as a way to raise money and create awareness and this event is set to continue the successful campaign. There are several Geelong bands playing the night including Imogen Brough, Tom Stevenson and the Oxfarmers and Revolution. All are donating their time and talents in support of the event, which already has 180 people attending on Facebook.
This awesome event has it all, talented musicians, cold beer, Oxfam and, most importantly, young people with a desire to create change. It’s good to see people getting off their backsides and putting thought into action locally – as we know, every dollar counts.
Tickets are $10 at the door or at the university, more bands to be confirmed at a later date, all tickets sales and proceeds from the night will be going toward the OXJAM campaign.
