Alt-country extravaganza Out on the Weekend is back for its third year, and it’s bringing a bunch of local favourites and international cult heroes to our shores with a ripper lineup.
Headlining Out on the Weekend comes Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders, fresh from impressing audiences at home and abroad in the wake of his critically acclaimed album. It will be the only chance to catch him in Melbourne for the rest of 2016.
Also appearing in 2016 will be frequent visitor Robert Ellis who recently released his stunning self-titled album. He’ll be joined by the likes of Canadian singer/songwriter Lindi Ortega, Chicago-born Dylan disciple Joe Pugg, Joshua Hedley, The Cactus Blossoms and Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, whose recent album One of Us is an absolute pearler.
Alt-Country and Americana genres are supported heavily by community radio, with local station 3RRR leading the charge. 2016 sees the 20th Anniversary of Denise Hyland’s Twang program and to celebrate this milestone 3RRR and Twang will broadcast a special edition of Twang live to air from the Out on the Weekend main stage.
Rounding it out comes sets from All Our Exes Live In Texas, Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife, The Stetson Family and Bakersfield Glee Club, who will dropping some honky tonk like no tomorrow.
Out on the Weekend 2016 goes down at Seaworks, Williamstown on Saturday October 15. Tickets go on sale Friday July 29 via TicketScout.
