Calling all amateur and professional local photographers.

The Surf Coast marks the start of the Great Ocean Road and is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia. The stunning coastal landscape in our backyard is a shining gem worth a thousand photos, which is why you’ve probably noticed a number of photographers sharing their snaps of the alluring clear waters, rugged rock formations, and breathtaking surf all over social media in recent times. The names Ed Sloane, Ash Hughes, Linda Gorfol, and Romy may come to mind for their stunning photos of the surf coast splattered across Instagram.

With a photographic paradise and a slew of talented snappers in the region, One Agency Surf Coast is bringing back their popular Calendar Photo Competition, putting the call out again to all amateur and professional photographers to submit their favourite scenic shots.

The key takeaways

  • One Agency Surf Coast’s calendar photo competition returns, encouraging locals to submit their scenic shots of the Surf Coast
  • This year One Agency is introducing a brand-new category for “Grom snappers” aged 18 and under
  • Renowned local photographer Ed Sloane would be judging this year’s competition

For the third year running, the competition calls for all amateur and professional local photographers to submit their favourite scenic shots. Whether it be of the dramatic scenery of the road contrasting with the cliffs and the ocean, or of the beaches where the waves and surfers make for a slice of paradise, this competition wants to see it all.

“We wanted a way to showcase and celebrate the beauty of where we live so we took a punt on running a calendar photo competition two years ago and we were blown away by the response,” said One Agency Surf Coast Director Shaun O’Callaghan.

This year One Agency is introducing a brand-new category for “Grom snappers” aged 18 and under, with the winning image from this category appearing in the 2022 calendar. Youngsters will need a parent or guardian’s permission to enter but will be a valuable opportunity for emerging photographers to get their name known across the region.

Last year’s photo competition attracted more than 200 entries, with 13 winning shots forming the foundation of a high-quality calendar that was given away by One Agency to 3000 local people and businesses.

“Once again, we’re inviting people to show us what they love or what inspires them in postcode 3228. Naturally, shots of the ocean and our shorelines are popular choices, but we’re open to creative interpretations of scenic shots, such as surfing, streetscapes, faces, sunsets…you name it!”

Renowned local photographer Ed Sloane would be judging this year’s competition again and that photos can be taken on a camera or phone – “just as long as they’re suitable for print quality at A4 size.”

To enter, simply email low-resolution versions of your photo(s) along with the photo location(s), your name, email, phone number and age (for Grom Snapper category only) to [email protected] by Sunday 26 September 2021.

13 images will be selected to appear in the One Agency Surf Coast 2022 calendar with photo credits to the winning photographers, plus social media and other promotions.

The calendars will be available for free to everyone and can be collected from One Agency’s office later in the year.
