Ocean Grove’s Andrea Robertson sonic journey through the seasons culminates with ‘Seasons Volume 4’

Words by Staff Writer

Andrea Robertson is not just an artist; she's a sonic storyteller, and 'Seasons Volume 4' is her magnum opus – a testament to resilience, creativity, and the enduring power of music.

In the intimate world of Andrea Robertson, the change of seasons is not just a meteorological phenomenon; it’s a musical journey that has captivated audiences throughout the year.

The award-winning Ocean Grove singer-songwriter has been on a mission, releasing a series of four EPs aptly titled ‘Seasons,’ and she’s about to bring it all full circle with the much-anticipated Seasons Volume 4, dropping this December.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Ocean Grove’s Andrea Robertson eases us into Autumn with her golden new EP ‘Seasons Volume 1’

Robertson’s unique approach to releasing music has been nothing short of a sonic revelation. It all began with the autumn release back in March, EP Seasons Volume 1 followed by her winter release Seasons Volume 2, her spring offering Seasons Volume 3, and now, as we approach the warmer embrace of summer, she’s set to unveil the final three tracks of this enchanting project.

Seasons Volume 4 not only marks the end of this compelling journey but also signifies the completion of a physical album comprising all 12 tracks, set to grace our ears in 2024 on limited editions of Double Vinyl and CD.

The genesis of this ambitious project traces back to 2022 when Robertson secured a grant and pitched an unconventional idea – a musical odyssey following the rhythm of the seasons. Each EP, comprising just three tracks and released in tandem with the changing weather, has been a deliberate move to reignite her music career, derailed by the pandemic’s unforeseen challenges.

The success of the digital releases has been undeniable, but Robertson’s recent triumph in a Pozible Pre-Order Campaign is the cherry on top. The campaign surpassed its target, ensuring that the entire ‘Seasons’ catalogue will soon grace the grooves of Vinyl (and double vinyl, no less). There’s also a treat for those who prefer the tactile pleasure of CDs; a short run will be available for the devoted followers.

As the final notes of ‘Seasons Volume 4’ resonate, plans for a regional and interstate tour in early 2024 are already in the pipeline. Robertson is eager to share her musical evolution, as this marks her fourth independently released and self-funded album. In her own words, “With each release, I feel like I’ve grown and stretched myself as an artist, and that’s exactly how it should be.

“There’s an honesty and openness to the songwriting in some of these songs, that perhaps goes deeper than I’ve previously allowed myself to go. Some songs are quite emotive, there is a real rawness and vulnerability about them. But I have intentionally tried to balance this out with some light-hearted tracks, for myself as well as for listeners.”

To celebrate the EP’s release, Robertson will perform at a launch celebration on Friday, 8 December, at BrewiColo Brewing Co, Ocean Grove’s beloved Craft Brewery. The twilight gig promises to be a sonic spectacle, featuring an impressive lineup of artists, including David Robertson, Heath Robertson, Russell Abram, Jack Meredith, Robert Calvert, and Rex Foord, with Madeliene Cope as support.

This is not just a launch; it’s an invitation to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Andrea Robertson’s Seasons journey.

Tickets, starting at $22 (concession), are available via TryBooking. Don’t miss your chance to witness the culmination of a musical odyssey that’s as raw and emotive as it is light-hearted and uplifting.
