To celebrate the final weeks of the NGV’s blockbuster Warhol and Weiwei exhibition, the National Gallery of Victoria has announced a slew of special events to send it out in style.
Australian singer/songwriter Robert Forster will perform from his latest album, Songs to Play, at the gallery for a final Saturday night performance. Adding to the festivities, the exhibition will be open for extended hours from this week, as well as a special 24-hour opening. Rounding it out comes a selection of talks and DJs, including a set from Oscar Key Sung.
Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei, a world-first exhibition, reveals the significant influence of Andy Warhol and Ai Weiwei, focusing on the parallels and intersections between the two artists’ practices. The exhibition, which features more than 300 works, explores modern and contemporary art, life and cultural politics through the activities of two exemplary creatives.
Get down to Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei at the National Gallery of Victoria before it closes on Monday April 25. Robert Forster will perfrom on Saturday April 23, with the exhibition holding a 24-hour opening from 10pm Saturday April 23 through to 10pm Sunday 24 April.
