Ahead of the album launch, Charm of Finches has unveiled their latest single, “Middle Of Your Mess,” along with an accompanying music video filmed at the grand historic Beleura House and Gardens in Mornington, VIC. The track, characterised by the duo’s signature blood harmonies and dreamy 60s backing vocals, offers a reflective take on the complexities of female friendships.

“Middle Of Your Mess” exudes a sun-drenched folk-pop vibe, complemented by vintage snare beats, inviting listeners into a whimsical sonic landscape. The accompanying music video, featuring aesthetic influences from films such as “Saltburn” and Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City,” adds a charming visual dimension to the duo’s gothic-inspired narrative.

“Marlinchen in the Snow” was recorded amidst the serene woods of Nova Scotia, inspired by the stark beauty of the winter landscape. Produced by acclaimed Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell, known for his work with artists like Jenn Grant and Oh Pep!, the album delves into themes of transience, belonging, and the fragility of relationships.

Charm of Finches, comprised of sisters Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes, has garnered widespread acclaim for their haunting melodies and captivating performances. Winners of the Australian Folk Music Awards Best Folk Album (2022) and Music Victoria Best Contemporary Folk Act (2021), the duo’s music has earned nominations for the prestigious Australian Music Prize.

Marlinchen in the Snow by Charm of Finches out Friday 19 April. Tickets for the tour are available through the official Charm of Finches website.
