Mulita BBQ to close its North Geelong venue, announce plans for Mount Duneed

For anyone who has ever had a craving the best of American cooking with a touch of Mexican flavours, Mulita BBQ – a joint for all burger lovers – has no doubt been one of the first places you'd go.

Having earned themselves a solid reputation for American BBQ with fresh and vibrant Mexican influences out in North Geelong for the past few years, it’s their dedication to the Texas-style smoked meats (with some dishes requiring up to 12 hours of smoking) that have customers coming back time and time again.

While the restaurant has always been a favourite, with its spacious seating, good vibes and decent kids area, the Mulita BBQ team have today announced they will be closing the North Geelong restaurant. While sad for the North side of town, the BBQ masters have also revealed they’ll be opening a new venue in Mount Duneed in June/July this year.

“We have some bittersweet news to share with you today. After much consideration, we’ve decided to close our current barbecue restaurant in North Geelong. We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have supported us throughout the years. Without you, MULITA BBQ wouldn’t be what it is today,” the venue said in a statement on social media.

“We are thrilled to announce that we will be moving to a new venue in Mount Duneed (no, it’s not The Hop Inn) with our launch planned for sometime around June/July 2023! Our new location will allow us to provide an even better dining experience, with more space, plenty of parking, and new menu offerings. Even a large secure grassy outdoor area where the kids can roam free. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new home!

“We understand that this may come as a surprise, but we want to assure you that this decision was made with careful consideration. Our focus has always been on providing high-quality food and service, and we believe that our new location will allow us to continue doing just that.

“We hope that you will join us in this new chapter of MULITA BBQ and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress via our social channels.”

The location has yet to be revealed, but if Mulita’s years of success, delicious BBQ and sister business Smashville is anything to go by, we just know it’s going to be epic.
