Having performed over 100 shows across 23 countries in recent years, Mildlife's live performances have been a breeding ground for their latest tracks.
In a psychedelic whirlwind of sound and self-discovery, Naarm/Melbourne’s own Mildlife drops their latest single, ‘Yourself,’ setting the stage for their eagerly awaited third studio album, Chorus, scheduled to hit the airwaves on March 1, 2024, via PIAS Australia.
As the anticipation builds for Chorus, Mildlife announces a nationwide album tour slated for June and July. The tour kicks off in Walyalup/Fremantle on June 21, making stops in Cavanbah/Byron Bay, Eora/Sydney, and concluding with a homecoming show in Naarm/Melbourne on July 6.

The dual ARIA Award-winning band takes a giant leap with ‘Yourself,’ a vocal-forward, slinky jam that delves into the realms of meaningful self-acceptance and the joy found in shared purpose. Kevin McDowell, one of the quartet, describes the track as emotionally positive, uplifting, and bright—a testament to the band’s evolution towards embracing brighter sounds for a sense of freshness.
‘Yourself’ follows the release of ‘Musica’ and ‘Return to Centaurus,’ paving the way for Chorus, a record that promises to be Mildlife’s most optimistic venture yet. The band, known for their genre-blending style, combines elements of jazz, dance, prog, and psychedelia into an entrancing musical amalgam.
Chorus, described by the band’s Jim Rindfleish as a coming together of disparate elements, reflects Mildlife’s unwavering adoration for 70s psychedelic and cosmic sounds. The album embraces a wide spectrum of influences, from Polish jazz to Italo disco and contemporary electronic sounds. It’s an exploration of cosmic compatibility and chemistry, symbolizing the rhythm of nature.
In contrast to their previous albums, Chorus stands out as Mildlife’s most optimistic record, a sonic celebration of their love for psychedelic and cosmic sounds. The band members take turns expressing their visions, creating a unified openness and humanity in their sound.
“We had this idea that we wanted to create a kind of disparate ecosystem of living things,” says Craig Shanahan, a regular collaborator. “We liked the idea of creating a small metaphor of moving through space. You see moments of things and sounds that may not emerge again until everything around you starts to unify.”
