Tickets are on sale this for Melbourne Storm’s first game of 2023 – the NRL Pre-Season Challenge match against the Sydney Roosters at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday, February 12 (1.50pm).

Melbourne Storm will continue its tradition of taking a pre-season NRL trial to a regional venue by heading to Geelong in February, with Storm ready to showcase its new signings as well as the established squad members who have been deep in pre-season training.

Melbourne Storm will play the Sydney Roosters at GMHBA Stadium at Kardinia Park in an NRL Pre-Season Challenge – the club’s first visit to Geelong since 2019, made possible by The Victorian Government and its Regional Events Fund.

Storm CEO Justin Rodski said the Geelong match would help to grow rugby league’s increasing profile and participation rates in the city and surrounding areas.

“We had a strong turnout for our trial against the Warriors four years ago and we’re looking forward to building on that in February,” Rodski said.

“Geelong is a growth area for rugby league with this trial coinciding with the formation of the Geelong Sharks whose juniors will play in the Storm Junior League and seniors in the Storm Premiership for the first time in 2023.

Acting Executive Director, Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine, Tracy Carter said, “This match will be a terrific opportunity to welcome NRL fans from across the country to watch a great event, and we know that before and after the whistle they’ll enjoy the fabulous hospitality venues, attractions and experiences in Geelong and The Bellarine.”

Tickets for the Geelong match will be available through ticketmaster.com.au with big discounts available for Storm 2023 members, with Storm junior members tickets will be available for $8, with adult member tickets just $19, concession $15 and family $46. As a bonus for Geelong Football Club members, they’ll be able to buy tickets at the same prices as Storm members from Thursday (10am).

Special trial game Storm memberships will be available for a $10 upgrade on top of the price of a general public ticket, which includes entry to the trial as well as the bonus of one NRL home game of your choice in Melbourne. General admission tickets will go on sale on Friday (10am) and will cost $25 for adults, $20 concession, $10 for juniors and $60 family.

With the game due to happen in a matter of weeks, Melbourne Storm have kicked off their two-week training camp at Geelong Grammar as the Club continue their pre-season training ahead of Round 1. 46 days away from their 2023 season opener against the Parramatta Eels at Commbank Stadium, Storm have embarked on their annual two-week training intensive at the regional school.

Each year since the initial camp in 2015, the complete Storm contingent move down to Geelong to for a fortnight of eating, sleeping and breathing rugby league.
