A festival for real music lovers set amongst the trees at Red Hill Recreation Reserve on the Mornington Peninsula hinterland.
From the music lovers who curated the popular Music on the Hill (MOTH) events in Red Hill over the past eight years comes a brand new one-day festival: Hinterland Music Festival.
Taking over the serene space among the gum trees at Red Hill Recreation Reserve on the Mornington Peninsula, Hinterland Music Festival offers regional Victoria a new festival for music-appreciating audiences that focuses on roots, folk, alt. country and more.

Heading up the inaugural festival on Saturday, November 19 include the likes of Nicky Bomba’s fun-loving 26-piece Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Australian folk-rock duo Little Georgia, NSW indie folk trio Little Quirks, Music Victoria award winner Matt Joe Gow and his band The Dead Leaves, and the renowned multi-instrumentalist himself, Nicky Bomba on MC duties.
The festival will also see Melbourne’s sister duo Charm of Finches and local singer-songwriter Tulliah take to the stage, alongside Cousin Leonard, Jalgany, Carissa Nyalu, Tillerman Pete and Miss Ovary Action.
Artists will perform on two stages throughout the day with the main stage featuring mainly established, internationally touring and recording artists, while the second stage will focus on local Mornington Peninsula-based artists.
While the focus is definitely on quality music, HMF has more to offer. You’ll be able to enjoy a great selection of craft beers, fine wines and spirits, dine on meals and snacks from fabulous food trucks and sip a brew from the coffee cart. Local groups such as Scouts and Lions Club will also join in on the festivities, with profits going back into the local community.
While the event itself is a one-day affair, there will also be a number of small music events taking place at Red Hill on Sunday 20 November, including two busking stations. Gigs will be added here in the lead up to the event.
