Local Birregurra eatery, Brae, named 44th best restaurant in the world

Did you know the 44th best restaurant in the World has been in your backyard this whole time? If you haven’t heard of the highly praised, internationally accoladed fine dining restaurant, now is the time to become initimate with the intensly popular and globally recognised Brae.

Since its 2002 inception, the ‘Worlds 50 Best Restaurants’ has grown to be the undisputed authority on what’s hot in global gastronomy. The awards left London for New York for the first time last year, and this year is just the second time the ceremony has been held elsewhere – at the Royal Exhibition Building in our very own Melbourne.

Brae is chef Dan Hunter and partner Julianne Bagnato’s creation, set on several acre gardens some 30 minutes south-west of Geelong, near Birregurra. Much of the fresh produce used in the kitchens is planted, grown and picked from the extensive grounds. The menu caters for expansive tastes, but the dining experience is more likened to a visit at your close friend’s country house.

The three and a half year old Brae bagged the forty-fourth spot this year, a stunning grab for such a young establishment. Brae now joins Melbourn’e Attica, the only other Australian restaurant in the top 50.

You can find them on Instagram, online or at 4285 Cape Otway in Birregurra.
