Live music has returned to Geelong putting local musicians front and centre

Live music is back baby!

Who’s been missing hitting up the pub on a Saturday night for a pint and some quality live music?

We definitely have, and now as social restrictions have kind of eased – enough to at least let us out of the house and into the open arms of a well-stocked pub – Geelong’s night scene is on the verge of blossoming into a nascent rose. And with every vibrant night scene, comes a solid display of live music.

You might already know The Hop Inn as one of the go-to place for a cheeky hot wing deal or huge takeaway parmigiana for those out Mount Duneed/Armstrong Creek way, but they’ve also long been huge supporters on the local live music scene, regularly hosting acoustic performances over summer. And now with the easing of restrictions and the return of dine-in, they’ve brought it back, announcing an absolutely packed roster of local talent over the next month.

“We have missed our awesome musician’s so we have not mucked around in getting them back at The Hop to do what they do best,” The Hop Inn revealed in a post to social media.

“They have been such an integral part of the experience over the years and we wanted to give them all a massive boost, plus show them just how important they are.”

You’ll be able to enjoy live music four times a week, with live music scheduled across Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the next four weekends. Performers include all the local favourites, including Ben Dew, Georgia Rodgers, Sam Hanson, Riley E Catherall, Dean Cockerall and Beth Caldow, among many others.

Bookings are essential and can be made via emailing [email protected]

The Inn Hotel – a serious weekend hot spot for great food, great drinks and funky music – has also brought back the local tunes, pumping some life back into our abandoned city once more.

Every Friday and Saturday night, locals will be able to amp up their late-night bar experience and FINALLY indulge in some tunes with DJs spinning wax all night long, while Sundays will see live acoustics to get you through a Sunday sesh.

This week will see the likes of Dirge on Friday night, Mitch Loughnan on Saturday night and on Sunday pub-goers be able to kick back to the bluesy acoustic guitar and emotionally charged and beautifully self-assured voice of local favourite Abe Anderson.

Further showcasing Geelong’s burgeoning music scene, Piano Bar are yet another venue bringing back the regular evenings of singing at the top of your lungs to all those guilty pleasures – kind of.

The venue will be hosting intimate evenings with Piano Bar favourites for the time being, with a session at 6pm and one at 8:30pm. You’ll still be able to sing along, enjoy a glass of wine and graze on some delicious bites… you just won’t be able to dance of the tabletops just yet.

Bookings are essential and can be made here.

Ah live music, it’s good to have you back!
