Play on the Plains festival returns with King Gizzard leading the one-day festival lineup performing alongside Baker Boy, Northeast Party House, Alex Lahey and Carp Factory.

Play on the Plains is back for 2024, and it’s promising a sensational lineup, dance-worthy beats, and a whole lot of good times. This year, the iconic Deni Ute Muster site transforms into a dancefloor on Saturday, 9 March 2024, welcoming some of the hottest, up-and-coming hitmakers to southern New South Wales.

Headlining the festival are none other than the psychedelic rock maestros, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, the electrifying Baker Boy, dance-floor kings Northeast Party House, indie sensation Alex Lahey, and the sensational The Carp Factory. And that’s not all – local Battle of the Bands contestants and finalists will grace the B Stage, showcasing the diverse talent emerging from the region.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Split into three categories – Senior Band (Open Age), Junior Band (Primary School) and Solo Artist (Open Age) – musicians will each get to play a set, including production and sound mixing, on the “B” stage between the Main Stage artists’ sets. Winners in each Band category will win cash prizes thanks to B Green Construction and Provincial Wealth.

The Solo Artist winner will receive a $750 musical equipment voucher courtesy of Deniliquin Nextra. The winner of the Senior Band competition will win $500 (with $250 going to 2nd place and $100 going to the 3rd place winners) and also get the chance to open the main stage at the 2025 Play on the Plains Festival!

The festival gates swing open at 12 noon for the campsite, while the festival arena gets rocking from 1pm. Expect licensed bars, food vans, beach volleyball, silent disco, camping, and ample free on-site parking – it’s the perfect recipe for a top-tier weekend on the plains!

Play on the Plains’ General Manager Vicky Lowry said, “We are thrilled to be back for 2024, adding to and growing the event with fireworks, camping on site and a Battle of the Bands. Play on the Plains was created for a younger audience through to families, bringing them all together to experience the best of our young Australian talent. Come and Play and Stay On The Plains!”

To make the journey even smoother, Dyson Group will operate charter buses from various local regions and shuttle buses to and from locations around Deniliquin Town Centre, and this year, the festival opens up on-site camping, allowing attendees to make a weekend of it. From noon on Saturday, 9 March, to 11:00 am on Sunday, 10 March, bring your swags, tents, caravans, station wagons, or campervans and soak in the full festival experience.

Embracing the digital age, the event will be fully cashless with RFID wristbands and top-up stations on-site. Attendees can even retrieve unused funds post-festival.

Tickets to this unmissable event are $120 (plus booking fee), available for purchase on Oztix starting at 9am today. For the younger music enthusiasts, children under 13 can groove along for only $20 (plus booking fee).
