Here’s what to expect from Queenscliff’s free winter festival Nightide this weekend

Nightide is the new fire and ice-themed winter festival coming to Queenscliff this weekend and it’s free

From the forward-thinking legends at Searoad Ferries, Queenscliff Music Festival and the Borough of Queenscliff, Nightide is the exciting new fire and ice-themed event taking over the Queenscliff Foreshore on Saturday 24 June, where the magic of frosty nights meets the warmth of community spirit.

Celebrating the beauty of mid-winter and the winter solstice, this extraordinary celebration promises to immerse visitors in a magical experience filled with vibrant performances, visual spectacles and delectable food and wine offerings.

Embrace winter this weekend at Nightide and revel in a night of live music, enchanting soundscapes, local delicacies, and the finest wines and beers or dip in inflatable ice baths and marvel at crackling fire sculptures, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display.

With free admission and lots to do, here are a few highlights you should expect to see:

Soul-stice Lounge Party

Experience a musical journey with DJ Emma Peel, spinning soulful vinyl and timeless funk anthems on the first-floor lounge of TARRA. Let your feet loose and groove to the funk or taste an array of fine wines, artisanal beers, and aromatic gin from local supplier tastings.

Ice Baths & Sauna

To truly embrace the solstice spirit, some cold water therapy in the inflatable ice baths will revitalise the soul. Watch the night sky lit up from the surrounding bon fires as you channel your inner Wim Hof.

Warm up post dip in a Finnish Sauna as well!

Operatic Sky

Multi-award-winning soprano Lee Abrahmsen will deliver a breathtaking performance, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display sure to light up the spirits and the sky.

Mulled Wine Station

Experience the magic of mulled wine: a fragrant blend of spiced red wine that warms your body, stimulates circulation, and brings cozy comfort. Perfect for cold nights and festive indulgence. If a local beer or gin is more your speed there will be pop up bars serving all night! It’s the perfect excuse to immerse yourself in the flavours of this beautiful Bellarine community.

Local Food Trucks

What’s a festival without some delicious food truck bites? Here you can embark on a food truck adventure with a diverse array of mouthwatering dishes, from global flavours to local delicacies, served fresh and on the go.

Bones & Jones Live On Stage

Fresh from just releasing their latest album, Love You, Victorian alt rock’n roll band Bones and Jones, known for their distinct songwriting and dynamic live performances, will join the free festival event. Having already released two albums and an EP with Folk Bitch Trio, their country-tinged rock sound has gained recognition from NME, The Guardian, and Triple J, with their album Ginger Gold nominated for major awards. A not-to-be-missed performance. Catch them at 7:40pm.

Other live performances include the likes of Jake Amy Trio, a Melbourne/Naarm-based multidisciplinary artist. Jake will perform from 6pm.

Fire Sculptures

Christian AKA General Zod is a Melbourne based artist/sculptor. Christian is predominantly a timber worker with a passion for recycling. Christian’s work has featured at multiple Australian festivals , his art has been incorporated into stage designs , installations and activations.  For Nightide expect to see a burn inspired by Winter Solstice, the sea and beach location.

Fire Twirling

We love a good performance, especially when there’s fire! Phoenix Rising will have Nightide covered in the thrill department with their captivating fire shows. They’ll be roaming the event on the night so you won’t miss them!

Rounding out the event will be immersive soundscapes called The Sand Is Always Moving, a Welcome To Country, and 200 handmade lanterns on display along the Shores of Queenscliff.

When & Where is Nightide?

Visitors will be able to access Nightide from the Queenscliff Pier from 4pm, or from 6pm at the new Queenscliff Ferry Terminal. Nightide is a free event open to the public and promises to be an unforgettable experience for families, friends and visitors alike.

It all goes down at the Queenscliff Foreshore on June 24 from 4pm. For more information about Nightide, head here
