Hecho en Mexico now has a whopping 15 restaurants in Victoria with its Mornington opening.
Good news for those in Mornington: Victoria’s favourite Mexican haunt Hecho en Mexico is bringing its authentic, freshly made, lip-smacking street-style Mexican food (and tequila) to the peninsula this month, taking over the space at 1A Main Street, Mornington from 24 April.
Continuing its rapid expansion across the Southern state, this marks the opening of its first restaurant in Mornington celebrating 15 sites in 10 years, following the opening of recent restaurants in Ballarat and Geelong.

Boasting the mantra “fresh is best” practised throughout their restaurants, Hecho en Mexico will be bringing Mornington fresh Mexican food and cocktails every day, with a menu that mirrors their youthful and fun energy. The seriously extensive menu is packed to the brim with entrees, tacos, burritos, mains, burgers, salads and desserts. The menu is kid friendly and designed to offer gluten-free options.
The cantina has been serving these Mexican street food favourites, as well as other tasty offerings on its extensive menu, since its Fitzroy debut in 2013.
And if the recent slew of site openings is anything to go by, Victorians can’t seem to get enough of Hecho en Mexico and its fresh, quality food! Diners can enjoy a fun, family-friendly experience, with special dining options for children as well as vegan and gluten-free choices.
Consistent with their other sites, the Mornington restaurant caters for small or large groups and offers a large food menu as well as a comprehensive bar list featuring a generous selection of margaritas, cocktails, wine, sangria, beer, mocktails and tequila.
To celebrate the opening, Mornington customers can enjoy $12 Patron classic margaritas and $5 tacos for the first two weeks from April 24.
